12 April 2021

Eric sees his role at Invacare as an opportunity to transform the company vision into products that meet his customer’s needs. “People are looking for suitable equipment and Invacare is offering those products along with innovation, value, and care. What we offer can truly change people’s lives for the better.”

As a product manager in the Asia Pacific, Eric travels throughout different regions talking to many Invacare customers in order to understand market trends and demands. “I do this so the company can offer products that are exactly what people want and need. And while I am interacting both internally and externally, one of my main goals is product knowledge sharing. This enables us to create products that really make a profound impact on an individual’s health.”

When asked what he most enjoys about his role, Eric said, “The team at Invacare listens to employee opinions and they are open to new ideas. They provide opportunities to learn and to make mistakes, which is another important opportunity to learn. The working environment offers a high degree of freedom, and I have interesting and funny co-workers. I work autonomously but also as a team, and I find that this approach drives me to stretch beyond previous limits.”

In the medical device industry, Eric believes that quality must always come first. “Customers are relying on our products to overcome daily challenges. First and foremost a high level of quality is how we can achieve this.”

Born and raised in Hong Kong, Eric studied science at University and started working in the electronics and medical device sector. “I have been working for Invacare for 10 years and worked for a local medical device organisation for 5 years prior to that. Throughout my 10 years with Invacare, I have polished my business and management skills and honed my expertise in the field.”

When not at work Eric likes to play basketball and go swimming. He also enjoys reading Chinese Kungfu novels by Jin Yong. “His writing is enjoyable not just for the interesting and entertaining stories, but also I find the characters and scenes reveal a lot about the nature of humanity.”

Delicious food is also a favourite of Eric’s, who said, “I have been known to drive for 2 hours to remote areas of Canton for a particularly delicious roast goose!”
