Mount Tomah is Australia’s highest cool-climate botanic garden, sitting 1000 metres above sea level. Make sure you pack for cooler weather, as temperatures and weather can change rapidly. I was amazed at the collection of plants from across Australia and around the world and found the Southern Hemisphere woodland particularly enchanting. I spent several hours exploring the garden and was so impressed with the displays, particularly the staff's friendliness. There is a cafe serving a range of items, from coffee and banana bread to meals such as smashed avo with eggs and burgers. The garden has several picnic areas, and I recommend packing some snacks and beverages to enjoy amongst the majestic trees.
